Subject: A Sonnet for Drew

I've drunk the blood of Him who died for me,

And from this taste my eyes, made open, see

A host of many more than I could count

Whose faith nor men nor Satan could surmount.

Their blood has flowed in rivers to the ground,

And Abel and his kin shout out the sound

That courses through my veins that flow in faith

In Him who loved the sinners unto death.

And that is why, dear friend, in midst of strife,

I point you to this jewel of our life,

And ask that you forget the wars of men

To sing the song of victory again:

"When wars and all their rumors you may hear,

Look up, for your redemption draweth near."
